Grady, the 3-year old on the left, was one of the children from Haiti who were airlifted to Grand Rapids following a devastating earthquake in January of 2010.
In Michigan, Grady found a new home. He also found a special new friend. His adoptive mother’s sister had a son by the name of Sutton, who was four. That cousin quickly became Grady’s strongest link to his new family, teaching him the language, the customs and the tolerance that created lifelong bonds.
The oil painting, Color Blind, creatively captures the social benefits which come from merging the cultures of the world and the play-time of these two little boys symbolizes the love and affection which is possible when the character of their hearts far outweighs the color of their skin.
